Making new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Outdoor Play

Each class will play outdoors 10 – 20 minutes each day when the weather is pleasant and the temperature is above 40 degrees.  Exceptions might be made when the play area is very wet or it is very windy.  Please dress your child appropriately.  The teachers will make this decision to the best of their ability based on the children’s health and classroom activities planned.

Each class a snack is provided usually consisting of healthy snacks of crackers, pretzels or vegetables with fruit drink, fruit juice or milk.  Each snack has a serving from 2 food groups.  For example, crackers and juice would provide a serving from the breads group and a serving from the fruit group.  If your child has restrictions on his diet, please ask a doctor to write a note explaining what foods your child should avoid.  Sometimes children like to bring in a snack to share with their classmates on a special day such as a birthday.  This practice is welcome and appreciated.  Parents will be asked to sign up for a “letter day” when the Alphabet Unit begins.  This is a fun way to reinforce the letters while you and your child pick a snack that begins with that letter.

Field Trips

Trips are taken only with signed consent of parent or guardian.  Transportation is by the church van, cars of staff or volunteer parents.  A teacher trained in First Aid as well as the first aid box is present on all trips.  The child's records are taken on the trip and each child has a nametag with his name and the name, address, and phone number of our school.  A child restraint car seat is used for all children under the age of 4 and less than 40 pounds, as required by law.  A booster seat is used for children who are over 4 years old and 40 pounds, but not yet 8 years old and 4 foot 9 inches tall.   Parents are asked to provide the car seat or booster seat and place it in the church van, so that it is put in properly.

Some field trips that we take have an extra cost associated with them.  Parents will be given plenty of notice of the trips and will have plenty of time to turn in the trip fee.

To insure child safety at all field trips a list of children going on the trip will be taken on the trip and left at the Preschool.  Each child will be assigned to a specific staff member and all vehicles will be checked at each destination.
